FACELIFT
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the face, helping you look like a younger version of yourself. This popular anti-aging solution reverses the effects of time by removing excess skin, lifting sagging facial tissue, and smoothing deep folds and wrinkles.

Facelift before and after images portray actual patients. Their outcomes are chosen to represent examples of achievable results. As with any cosmetic surgery, results can vary.* The quality of results underscore the importance of selecting a skilled surgeon to perform this technique-dependent surgery.

As your face ages, it may begin to look less familiar to you when you look in the mirror. Your change in appearance may be due to a decrease in elastin and collagen levels in your skin. It could also be the result of putting on excess weight over the years. Whatever the case may be, a facelift can help restore your youthful appearance, so your reflection looks more like “you.”
You might benefit from a facelift if you have:
One of the most notable benefits of a surgical facelift is that it can target and reduce many common signs of aging at once. That means you won’t need to receive different treatments for each area of concern. You can reduce wrinkles, tighten up sagging skin, and minimize your double chin with a single procedure.
A rhytidectomy is a same day (outpatient) surgery. After arriving in one of our designated surgical centers, you will be placed under general anesthesia. During the surgery Dr. Epstein makes an incision along the ear, hidden in a natural skin crease or fold, which may extend into the hairline. He then lifts and repositions the underlying muscle and tissue and may remove, reshape, or reposition subcutaneous fat. Excess skin is trimmed, the skin is redraped over the new contours of the face, and the incisions are sutured closed.
Bruising and swelling greatly subside over the first two weeks following surgery, and your results become gradually more apparent. Most patients return to work at around 2 weeks, although swelling will continue to improve for the following 4 weeks. As always, individual experiences will vary.*
Results are long-lasting, but as aging continues results will eventually fade. While a rhytidectomy can take years off your appearance, it cannot stop the aging process indefinitely. Most patients enjoy their rejuvenated appearance for about a decade. As always, individual results will be different per person.*

Yes, but only temporarily. People may be able to tell you had work done on your face in the weeks immediately after your surgery. You will experience post-operative swelling and bruising that are telltale signs of a facelift.
But once your swelling and bruising subsides, most people won’t be able to tell you’ve had surgery. They may notice that your face looks more youthful and vibrant (which is a good thing!). But there won’t be obvious scars or other visible indications that you’ve had a facelift.
Our facelift surgery is outpatient, so you won’t have to stay overnight. The procedure usually takes a few hours. Once it’s finished, we allow our patients to recover in a quiet room for a few hours. Afterward, they can have a family member or friend drive them home to recover comfortably.
Anytime you consider receiving surgery, it’s important to research all associated risks. Facelift surgery is a common and relatively safe procedure. Complications are very rare when a skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Epstein performs this surgery.
You can expect to feel temporary numbness around your incision sites. You will also feel some discomfort for the first two weeks after surgery. You can manage any discomfort with pain medications and by following our aftercare instructions.
Rarely patients may bleed underneath the skin after their procedure. When this problem occurs, we must fix it with another operation. Additional rare complications may include facial nerve injury, infection, poor wound healing, and skin discoloration.
No. At Concierge Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, we use leading-edge techniques to make your surgical incisions as invisible as possible. Your surgeon will make the incisions along your hairline or behind the ear for concealment purposes. Your scars should be virtually undetectable once the treatment site is fully healed.
